On October 23, Wangyu defended his PhD thesis entitled “Catalytic Synthesis of Functionalized Six-, Seven- and Eight-Membered Heterocycles from Carbon Dioxide”. His work combined various catalytic approaches to address long-standing challenges providing access to both functional and larger-ring carbon dioxide derived heterocycles for applications ranging from new pharma-relevant building blocks to polycarbonates with potential as drug-delivery systems.
